The cable documentary series Weaponology investigates the science of warfare as it has progressed and developed - over the centuries - from crude battlefield contraptions to diabolically inventive weaponry. Each episode hones in on one particular category of weapon and discusses its background, evolution and strategic employment on the front lines. Episode three, "Rapid Fire," traces one of the deadliest of all wartime developments: the use of weapons that can fire continuously, from the stationary Gatling guns of the 19th century to the terrifying subatomic machine guns of the present day.
