Lorna Ravers deep voice sometimes takes on a masculine gruffness to quote men talking, and sometimes she speaks as a female character she needs to assume. Her reserved manner fits the somber topic, and her unhurried pace allows listeners to assimilate every word.

The end result of WWII, perhaps more than any other war in history, was decided by the secret armies, individuals, and groups who fought behind the scenes, using ubterfuge and top-secret technologies, to change the outcome of the war. This is the story of the Allied operatives whose goal was to strike out at the Axis forces while maintaining the delicate cat-and-mouse game that would keep their own knowledge and actions from the enemy. Johnny Heller delivers another solid performance.

This is an excellent audio series on World War II. It is informative but also very entertaining, weaving together the political, military and entertainment events into the every-day life of the average person. It is funny as well as heartbreaking, and any listener will feel back in time experiencing these critical historical events for the first time.
